Ingredients:

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Gently fold in the caramel sauce until every apple slice is coated.
  4. Transfer the mixture into your baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  6. Add the chilled, cubed butter.
  7. Using a pastry cutter or fork, work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with a few pea-sized lumps remaining.
  8. Spoon the topping evenly over the apple mixture, pressing down very lightly.
  9. Bake for 40–45 minutes until the filling bubbles around the edges and the topping turns a deep, mahogany-golden brown.
