Ingredients:
- 6 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gently fold in the caramel sauce until every apple slice is coated.
- Transfer the mixture into your baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
- Add the chilled, cubed butter.
- Using a pastry cutter or fork, work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with a few pea-sized lumps remaining.
- Spoon the topping evenly over the apple mixture, pressing down very lightly.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until the filling bubbles around the edges and the topping turns a deep, mahogany-golden brown.
