Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp raw honey
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Instructions:
- Heat the toasted sesame oil in a large cast iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Let it sear undisturbed for 5-7 minutes to develop a caramelized crust. Break the meat into small crumbles with a wooden spoon and continue cooking until fully browned. Drain any excess rendered fat.
- Pour in the soy sauce, honey, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Stir well to coat the beef and allow the sauce to reduce for 2-3 minutes until it forms a thick, lacquer-like glaze.
- Divide the cooked jasmine rice into four bowls. Top with the glazed beef and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
